Areas of Practice

The Law Office of Wendy S. Marcus

Estate Planning encompasses many things. Wills, Trusts, powers of attorney, healthcare directives, burial instructions and guardianships. Services are also provided in the areas of Elder law, Medicaid planning and special needs trusts for disabled people.

Special Needs Trusts are a way for disabled people to have some assets but not lose thier government benefits.

Elder Law sometimes involves special needs trusts, to keep people eleigable for government benefits, but it can do so much more. My goal is to keep the elederly person at home as long as possible, while assisting caregivers to set up systems, documents, legal agreements etc., to give the family peace of mind.

Medicaid planning is a plan to shed assets so that one becomes eligible for Medicaid, usually to cover nursing home care. This is not possible in every situation, but in some situations, it can be a life saver.

The practice will work with you until you are satisfied and understand all parts of your estate plan.

The laws of Wills and Trusts are complex, it is a class one doesn't take until the second year of law school. Please allow our practice to help you navigate these areas of the law.

If you are unable to visit my office and you live in Los Alamos County, I will come to you.
